What We See..

Everyday that passes by we see new people coming from different parts of the world.

Looking at each one we see the different religions, race, and cultures of the new people.

The first thing that crosses our minds is that these immigrants are here to take over our jobs.

Not knowing the reason why these people are immigrating to our world we start judging them.

We need to stop and realize that this country of ours is full of opportunity and these new people who we call immigrants are just looking for a better life and a new beginning.

Teens and Media

In today's society most of the sexual harassments and rapes are happing in high school and junior high school. Most teens that rape or harass other people do this because, they have seen someone been raped or harassed, or they have been raped or harassed them selves. Most teens see on the television that other people are been raped and harassed and feel that is justified to perpetrate them. The media it self send out the wrong message, especially to kids. The media has all these women's posed half naked or being seduced by a man just to advertise a company's product. When people see this, the first thing they think of is, if they get that product they also could be like the guy and get a girl just like in the advertisement.

In high school, kids treat gay kids in an irrational way. In my high school we had a gay guy. During gym in the locker room everyone would change, but when the gay kid came into the locker room to change everyone in that row with him picked their stuff up and went to a different row and left the gay kid alone. All the guys had no problem changing among them selves, but as soon as the gay kid came in the locker room everyone mentality changed. Also in high school girls are being touched all over by the guys, and the girls really don't care much about it, but as soon as a scandal happens among them then they try to deny everything that ever happened. Most teen boys would go around and start bragging about what they have done with a girl. When a guy hasn't done anything with a girl, he probably would feel unmanly. In school the mentality of some guys is that they should at least have done something already around the age of sixteen.

Even though media is one of the main reasons that promotes sexuality in young age, it shouldn't be the only thing to be blamed. People should also take the blame for some of the things that goes on in today's society. Even though people see what's going on in media and on the streets they should know the difference between what's right and wrong. Some people look at being able to harass someone or rape them show that you have power, but in reality it shows that you're really a fool. If the media stops portraying women's in a sexual way than all the rape and harassment rates will go down.

The role of a man

"Manly men defend their turf as other male mammals do. The analogy to animals obviously suggests something animalistic about manliness. But manliness is specifically human as well".

I agree with this quote that the role of a man is to protect his home and his family, just like a male mammal does. Men and women both have different roles as a human being. As a man his responsibility is to provide for his wife and for his kids. Men's believe that they should be the ones who take care of the family. If women's take the role of a man by providing for her family men's feel that they are not man enough to provide for his own family, and that they have to live off their wives when they are the one's who are supposed to be providing for his family.

I believe that the guys should be the one who pays for everything, especially when you go out with a girl. Usually when I go out with a girl half of the time they try to pay. By seeing them trying to pay makes me feel low, I feel that I should be the one who should be paying not her. Half of the time when the girl try's to pay and I don't let her, she brings up the whole sexist thing. Sometimes I just ignore her and go right ahead and pay or just tell her that I am the one who is taking her out and that she shouldn't worry about it because I'll pay for everything.

Appearance isn’t everything

In the video clip "Slip of the Tongue", a boy tried to hit on a girl by asking her what her ethnic makeup is. She replies to him saying she don't believe in showing her self as something she's not just to fit in, but by showing her true self for what she really is.

The message of the video clip was to show people that they should stop trying to be like someone else and just be you're self. People are spending most of their time trying to look and act like someone just so they could fit in. By looking and acting like someone else you are hiding the real you. By being your self people would see that you are your own person trying to follow your own path, and not try to follow someone else.

This video relates to me in a way, because I agree with what the girl was saying that we need to be our own self and stop trying to be like other people. In the video it shows that people are changing the way how they look just to please other people. Also in school students try to fit in with the crowd that way people can't make fun of them on how they look or even how they act. Appearance is mostly a big thing for student. They are always changing their looks or trying to be someone there not. Most of the time when I'm around people, I am my self. But sometimes when I see my friends acting a certain way I try to act like them, that way I won't be left out. People act and look a certain way just so they could fit in with other people, but sometimes fitting in isn't always a good thing.
