Lolivo

         In the movie “Under the Same Moon” Carlitos is a nine years old boy who happens to be living with his grandmother in Mexico, separated from his mother that lives in Los Angeles, California but as an illegal immigrant. On his birthday party it was the last time he talked with his mother through the phone. Furthermore, his uncle and his wife went to visit Carlitos to congratulate him. They also went to tell him that his grandmother was going to die because she was very sick, and that he needed somebody that could take care of him.  However, the fact is that his uncle alone with his wife does not care about Carlitos’ well being.  As evidence, there’s a conversation in the movie between Carlitos’ uncle and his grandmother discussing that when Carlitos was born, he was denied by his father’s family. In the contrary, his uncle and the wife tried to convince Carlitos to go live with them because his mother was providing three hundred dollars monthly to support him, but since his father’s family did not care about him they were planning to keep the money.   

       In the majority of the times in the movie, Carlitos spends more time with adults than children, meaning that he has a lot of knowledge. Carlitos is a very clever child because throughout his grandmother’s teachings, he was able to see that something was wrong with his uncle and the wife. Carlitos’ conflict turned even more difficult when his grandmother died, because he only had two options.  He either had the choice of going to live with his uncle or go after his mother in which is very courageous as a child that he is. To defeat this obstacle Carlitos chose to go after his mother in the North of America. He had a few dollars saved from the job that he maintained, which was based on providing illegal documentation to people that wanted to cross the border.  Carlitos used the money that he earned to cross the border, but once he did, he ended up by himself walking with strangers in search of his mother. Although Carlitos and his mother did not have good communication between them, Carlitos’ splendid imagination allowed him to resolve his conflict by thinking about the place where his mother would be standing while talking with him on the phone on Sundays. Almost at the end of the movie Carlitos starts to describe every place that he gets trying to find the right place that his mother described especially for him.  

When we Experience new thoughts and feelings we separate from our old thoughts and Feelings. In the media, when I see new things I gain new feelings and thoughts that makes me wonder why? The power of the media creates perpetrators who create violence between relationships. For instance, in the Coca-Cola advertisements they use females as an object that attracts the consumers to buy Coca-cola. Even in their logo, they use the female body for attraction. These people only care about selling their products. However, this attraction creates violence between relationships because the consumers feel so oppressed to this attraction that they would do anything to feel satisfy.

     To look at females as an object is not the only thing we do, but also treat them as one. Therefore, we see females in the real world as an object that we just use in which if she refuses, we would use force of violence. Moreover, this is why we judge people a lot of time in our everyday interactions. Also, we do what it is called Battery, which means unlawful use of force on somebody. For example in the strip clubs, females are unlawful forced to be touched. The fact that women in the strip clubs are being paid in which they “enjoy” makes it legal for the consumers to touch them.

     We are stuck in a world that every new things we see coming natural from people, we judge as irrational. The reason why we judge this way is because people are scare to understand that every new thing we learn is a human thing. For instance, when two people from different cultures mix, they form an individual. For instance Barack Obama, One half of his family is from Africa and the other half is American. There are a lot of people like Obama who does not know which cultures follow, so they consider their self as individuals. Media makes male belief that man is the dominant sex and to prove it men create violence making females inferior to us.

"A woman today has the choice of every occupation that used to be reserved for men, plus traditional women's roles".

            I chose this quote because for me it is related to reality. Women nowadays have the right to choose what they want to be. Time is changing and we could see that on the way that women are becoming more representational. Women now have the opportunity of going to school in which was not permitted before. Today females have the choice of following their traditional roles as a woman or achieving higher ground in education. For example, Hillary Clinton, who would ever thought that a woman would run for president of the United States. Now, this gives me to understand that this is only the beggining of a new era.

            I am the type of person that know what i know because i was raised with that mentality. When i was in D.R. i saw my mother in the kitchen all the time so i thought that all women were suppose to be this. However, living in America made me change that mentality. Here in America we see people from all over the world who share different ideas who other people actually take into consideration. For instance, In some religions the people think that women that get marry have to take care of of husband's parents once old. Nevertheless, other people see this as if it does not has a meaning. 

The Video “America for Dummies” is a short documentary video clip interpreted by a seventeen years old guy who talks about people not caring to learn about our world any more.  In this video he’s saying that the apathy has completely spread among our societies and since nobody cares about the things that can make a better future any more our government is doing anything they want with our nation.  This young man also happens to say that his parents came to America solely with the notion of providing him and his brother a better education and future. However, since his appearance is the first thing that apathetic people see, they take him as of what they see from him, the material. He also goes out on the streets asking people about other people who if they didn’t know who that person was, they would just call them for other names. It is reasonable and understandable that people get tired of doing the same thing all the time, in this case politics. In this video the ex-president George W. Bush happens to say that our “nation is evil”, but our apathy is so huge that he even went for a second term and I believe that since that happened and we weren't aware of the threat behind it, the majority of people just stopped caring about politics until now that we have a new president.

This video has a strong message that caught my attention right away. First of all, I must have to say that apathy comes from the fact that people don’t have interest in anything. However, I come to think that the reason why apathy has spread and keeps on spreading is because people aren’t scare of drastic issues that may happen to them, until the moment in which it happens. For instance, we can recall the 9/11 attacks in which it affected many of us, causing many people then to care about things. Another example would be the personal issues of a person who tries to get these issues out of the mind because is molesting, meaning that this person really cares about getting these issues solved. The same thing happens within a whole population, the general issues don’t seem to molest them until the situation get worst, and then is when people act, when it is too late. It also happened with our ex-president; people started worrying after they realized that the economy has been going down to a level that in which today we’re still  being affected by it.
