Immigration an Under-Stimation
Looking back in my life
I see a litle girl wanting to be educated
My parents have worked so hard
But is never enough to live where we are located
Absolutely I don't accept this situation,
immigration is better than under-estimation.
By waiting for the suitable solution,
I remain patient and full of ambition.
Take me very far from misery,
in the road to the gold country.
Then I am preparing my luggage to leave,
because our government is a big thief.
My parents tdecided to move
I was going to miss them
But it was a sacrife that in the end
Their experience would repay them
Immigrant s were taking all the jobs
But how is that so?
if we try to progress and instead we get mobbed.

Teaching Myself the English Language
" I was also teaching myself how to read English by sounding out the labels on the packages: L&M cigarettes, Borden's Homogenized Milk, Red Devil Potted Ham, Nestlé's Chocolate Milk, Quaker Oats, Bustelo Coffee, Wonder Bread , Colgate Toothpaste, Ivory Soap, and Goya ( maker of products used in Puerto Rican dishes)".
This quote relates to me because when I came to this country from the Dominican Republic I did not know how to speak the English language. I did not even knew the basics of English such as hello, or excuse me. I went to school with so much to learn. I tried to get into a bilingual program but the school did not offered them. I always tried to read every poster or announcement I saw on TV or while walking home from school. People always made fun of me because of my accent. At the beginning it used to bother me so much to the point where I would go home and just cry till I fell asleep. I remember the kids in elementary school making fun of me. Although I didn't know what they were talking about I knew they was making fun of me because I did not understand anything that they were trying to say to me. This girl according to the quote also read everything that had letters and basically thought herself to read and write the language just like I had to do. Cuming to America requires you to learn a new culture, a new way of living and most importantly a new foreign language. You must learn how to speak English in order to be successful in this country. It was very hard to go through of not knowing and understanding what people were trying to communicate to me. It is one of the worst feelings, and having parents that didn't know the language and could not even try to help wit homework from school made everything so much harder. I took it upon myself to learn and write the American language in order for me to achieve the American dream.

Who Cares? I’m Much More Important
The video clip "America for Dummies" is about a young kid who goes around with many different pictures asking people if they could recognize the person in the photograph. Some of the images have people such as Nelson Mandela who as some might know he was the president of South Africa that helped lead the transition towards multi-racial democracy in South Africa. Other pictures include celebrities such as Lindsey Lohan who have not contributed anything positive to society today.
The message of this video is to show society today how the people are being so ignorant about what is going on in the world. It explains how a person would care more about unimportant thing, and how those are the type of things that interest them. Society today only care about the things they think are going to directly affect them but they are not creating conscience of how even the most remote outside problems can directly or indirectly affect them. It clearly states how people only care about themselves.
The message relates to me because I was the type of person who believed that if something does not involve me it won't affect me. I was only concerned if it directly was affecting me. Now I could see that even the smallest thing about my surrounding and outside problems can be crucial the way I live my life in the future. Now I am much more interested in what is going on in the world. I give some thoughts on how certain situations and think of how it might affect me. Some people my generation would only be concerned about what is they are illustrating in the media. Most of the times are messages with no values and morals and that is what interest people. They would not care about who is running our country or who is making those important decisions for us but they would be focus on what is going on in Paris Hilton's life for instance.
